Kentech has brought out the Odio PS-MI with a footprint guarantee to fit wherever you want it to. Kentech has assured users of a spatial separation of a high degree and extraordinary stereophonic/surround sound and the volume knob in front does serve a dual purpose of power on/off. The product is one of the first in multi-driver speaker systems for iPods where a dedicated subwoofer and three standard drivers are placed in a tower like unit in place of the usual footprint horizontal design.
This type of design produces a balanced sound where the bass levels are just right for mainstream users to be satisfied. The narrow chassis manages to give a stereo separation which is quite decent and space utilization is best with its slide out iPod dock. It comes with an infrared remote control and a carrying case. There is also a wall adapter which can power the system and there are dock adapters for the older versions of this iPod.
The Odio PS-Mi cannot operate on battery power, so a power outlet is required wherever you need to use it. Powering off is not very convenient unless the mirror button on the six button remote is used. There is an S-video port at the back which is not compatible with the current nano, iPhone or the classic touch but its compatible with only the iPods pre-year 2007. The unit has an USB port and an auxiliary audio input for effective syncing.
The PS-MI is good for those who have horizontal space problems but are keen on the sound quality of speakers in the same price bracket where performance does not go down as compared to a single driver system which would be cheaper.
At $150 you have an aesthetically appalling, solid in sound and enough bass to please the most fastidious listener.
