The iPond is a novel concept which works with every audio device, mp3 player or radio which has the standard socket for headphones of 3.5mm. This iPond is obviously using the name iPod for its own sales as the iPond does not have any iPod dock attachment. This is a tiny iPod speaker set in to a fish tank which has a capacity of about 660 milliliters of water.

On the packaging there is a pair of Siamese fighting fish which seems to indicate that the iPond is being sold with the fish. But the RSPCA has a lot to say on this as they recommend 10 liters of water for Siamese and other small fish too. The speakers are nested inside the tank which means when music is played the fish will feel some impact.

The iPond works as the advertisement states but the sound quality without the water and fish in it is nothing exceptional and the system is not a high fidelity one.

But at the price, it is possible to buy iPod speakers which have better sound and this without having fish as pets. Those who do buy the iPond must keep in mind that using this as a permanent fish tank may mean that your fish suffer so one option is to keep the fish in a large tank and put them in the music tank only to show friends.

It is likely that there will be fish tanks, bigger ones, at a later date where with the permission of the RSPCA, one can have speakers inside but for the time being the banning of this model has ensured that among people the curiosity and subsequent popularity has gone up as with all banned products.
