The Geneva Sound System has its good qualities and its bad. The good includes that this multi-purpose home stereo holds an iPod dock, CD player, and FM radio along with a large furniture-grade wood cabinet with a perfect gloss of paint. It has two line inputs, bass and treble controls, a decent stereo separation and a full-size remote control. However, it’s extremely expensive, has no digital inputs and is about the size of a microwave.

Nevertheless, the Geneva Sound System Model L delivers a kind of sound that’s a knockout punch to all of its featherweight competition, especially all those scrawny iPod speakers. Its cabinet holds a pair of stereo speakers with 1-inch tweeters, 5.25-inch woofers, a digital amplifier that delivers 50 watts to each channel. While the Geneva Sound System Model XL has the same tweeter and midrange drivers, along with two
8-inch subwoofers and a power output that blasts all the way to a whopping 600 watts.

Model L is more of a home-stereo system and is accessible in three high-gloss paint finishes: white, black, and lipstick red for its medium-density fiberboard construction. It can even be ordered with an optional floor stand that can support the 38 pounds of the speaker.

Located below a top-mounted flip-up door are the Model L’s power on/off, volume, CD eject controls and universal iPod dock. Above the door, is the slot-loading CD player. Through the upper-right-hand corner is the large red LCD display that details info about whatever you are playing. The speaker is about 17.6 inches wide, 11.5 high, and 14.2 deep while the remote is slightly too big for its purpose, but offers bass, treble and six FM presets.

Either way, the Model L is built for a room full of people and loud music. The bass and treble controls that let us control the sound to your liking, and is just the thing to get a room full of people dancing and screaming into ears for conversation.
