Every time you turn around, there seems to be a new iPod speaker system springing up. Let’s face it, most of them are much of the same with a few differences in appearance, color and price. Not so the Zeppelin from Bowers & Wilkins.
The looks of course, set it apart. It looks rather like a longish balloon but a metal balloon. It has a stainless steel arm that kind of stretches out in front waiting for you to place the iPod in it. It looks like something from outer space, with just two buttons on a stainless steel band that goes down the front panel. One is the Power button while the other is the Volume.
Anything else you want to do, you do with the remote – forward, back, adjust, pause, stop. With this, you can also switch from the iPod to any audio device that is connected to the speakers through a minijack input. The panel at the back of the speakers also has video out ports so you can connect it to your TV and you’ll find that it matches with the latest Apple’s video requirements.
Coming from the hi-fidelity stables of Bowers & Wilkins, this is a speaker system to watch out for. It could well be the benchmark for all the new speakers that enter the market. It’s got the looks, it’s got the style but more than anything else, it’s got the listening pleasure to give that is quite unrivalled! Turn on your favorite album, sit back and you won’t feel the passing of time.
